Alison Wright (born in England) is an English actor from England. Her most well-known character is Martha Hanson in the FX spy period series The Americans. She received criticism and nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for this. Wright also acted in the role of Bette & Joan on the Ryan Murphy Limited Series Feud. Wright was an Sunderland resident, born on 12th July 1976. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She was educated at New York City's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute as well as The Barrow Group. Her waitressing job was interrupted with auditions for roles in various parts. When she went scuba diving at sea - something she enjoys doing - she suffered from a cardiac attack which put her patient in a condition that was similar to one in a coma. Six days later she died peacefully surrounded by her loving family members, who flew in to be by her side in the hospital. Wright was taken in by her parents as a child and brought up in Sunderland.
